Discussion on Judicial Independence and Rule of Law

It's high time to restore the rule of law and for

lawful judges to be able to rule.

We saw various kinds of maneuvers by the President's Office.

First, attempts to question the election of these judges in

the

Sejm, the validity of their election.

That was disproved when footage was shown

of how the election of these

judges proceeded.

Later, we heard

from the head of the Office that the president examines judges' CVs.

This is unlawful, an unacceptable violation of the law.

The point was to prevent these judges from working.

So at the moment when one wants to rebuild,

we hear about a coup d'état. This is a typical example

of what we call "Catch the

thief." Someone who steals in a crowd suddenly shouts,

"Catch the thief!" to distract the others.

That's how I see it today.

The rule of law is being restored. The Tribunal is being rebuilt.

We have an opinion from the Venice Commission, which clearly stated that if

the president fails to fulfill his

constitutional duties, the judges may

carry out, in place of the president, a kind of substitute

swearing-in. And all these judges did so,
