Concerns Over Law and Order in Poland

Watching what is happening, I have before my eyes

scenes

from

the eighties, when

standing opposite citizens who

were expecting changes in the country,

uh, there marched, um, ranks

of officers of the then militia,

uh, masked, with shields, and giving

themselves courage with what I think was a battle cry,

when they struck those shields with batons.

And watching what is happening, I cannot

forget that image. Uh, and

for me, uh, a judge who practiced the profession

for over forty years,

uh, the image of police officers

on the grounds of the Constitutional Tribunal,

uh,

the lack of information about who

actually

is in command,

uh, who decides what is

happening there,

i-is the kind of situation that, in me,

as a citizen and a lawyer, arouses

enormous concern.

the gentleman's... The Prime Minister's post about restoring

the rule of law, and this image I can't

get out of my mind, and the prime minister should also remember

those times, when masked officers

beat their batons against shields,

uh, this is something that should

immediately, uh, um,

change the way things are done when it comes to

restoring the rule of law
