Fraudulent Weight Manipulation in Shipping

Before unloading, the truck bed was full of coal.

After unloading, the buyer found a problem and refused to buy it.

When it was loaded back into the truck bed,

it was less than half of the original amount.

What’s the trick behind this?

The mechanism is actually hidden in the truck bed floor.

Before loading, the seller will

raise a false-floor support in the truck bed,

making the coal appear

to fill the entire truck bed.

When unloading, the false floor levels out

as the truck tilts. If the buyer doesn’t watch

the truck bed throughout the process,

they can easily be duped.

Some might say, “Why not just weigh it?”

Then you don’t know how much deeper the tricks of weighing and

unloading go. These drivers usually

install water tanks in concealed places.

Before loading, the tanks are empty.

Suppose you load five tons of goods.

The truck and cargo together weigh eight tons.

Then, on the road, the driver secretly unloads

one ton of cargo and then adds

one ton of tap water to the tank. At the final

inspection weigh-in, the weight hasn’t dropped at all.

Another method is to first

add one ton of water before loading. For example, a truck’s actual

tare weight is three tons, but after adding water, it weighs four tons.

The driver then confirms with villagers selling grain that the vehicle’s

tare weight is four tons. Then, on the way to load the grain,

they drain the water. After receiving the grain,

they make the final weigh-in.

The truck and grain together weigh ten tons, so

at settlement, ten minus four means six tons of grain.

The driver only needs to pay for six tons,

but the real calculation should be ten minus three,

meaning seven tons were loaded.

The driver pockets one ton of grain.
