hostility to Islam

stems from its hostility

to humanity.

I was at a conference in London about the fall of secularism,

and one of the researchers asked me:

“ Isn’t Islam

a search for identity?”

I said to her,“ No.

If it were a search for

identity… …

you would be standing in the ranks of Islam,

in the ranks of the Muslims… considering us oppressed,

and you would have turned the issue

entirely into an issue of identity.”

So I said to her,“ No, rather,

it is an issue of establishing justice on earth.”

When I said this sentence at the conference,

the listeners were shaken…

because the idea of justice

is tied to the

idea of truth…

and the idea of truth

is tied to absolutes.

And absolutes are

not known now

in the West,

everything is relative…

everything is equal.

So if a person appears and speaks about establishing

justice on earth……

this reminds them of their past…

because they too,

one day in the past

They were talking about establishing justice on earth……

but they lost their innocence,

they lost their humanity.

And then, Islam

reminds them

of the nobility they have lost.

And this is also the secret behind the

resentment toward

the intifada.

In the West,

you have to be

pragmatic, practical……

accept what money

you are given.

The president of the

United States,

Nixon, after

he left the

presidency……

he was offered a

high price for his house,

so he sold it immediately.

The vice president in

1964, when he failed in the elections……

two days later,

he was on television in American Express commercials.

And so, everything is

negotiable,

everything is for sale.

One professor defined

modernity as……

the dropping of all

universal values……

including kinship

relations……

and subjecting

everything to

negotiation.

That is, everything becomes

part of the market,

of the world of buying and selling.

And in the market there is no nobility,

and in the market there is no heroism……

and in the market there is no

truth and no justice.

We must place this
