Very recently in West Bengal an election was held. Of Bangladesh’s

neighboring regions,

West Bengal is extremely important for us. That election is their internal matter,

but we do not want to say anything about the election for that reason.

But we have seen that before the election, a few hundred thousand

voters had their citizenship stripped, they were prevented from voting.

Most of them were Muslims and from the Matua community.

And I have said this in Parliament as well, we have said,

that these Muslims are being persecuted there, their right

to vote is being taken away, this will have an impact on Bangladesh too.

And even after the election, persecution of Muslims there is continuing,

of the Matua and Dalit communities,

and persecution is being carried out on minority communities.

We want to state one thing very clearly, to you all

I mean, after the results of this election in West Bengal,

Bangladesh’s responsibility has increased a lot.

Bangladesh must behave responsibly.

Bangladesh’s independence, sovereignty, and the safety of this country’s Hindus,

Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, everyone,

and the protection of their civil rights

is a responsibility we must take on. And our enemies,

those who are against Bangladesh, those who are against Bangladesh’s interests,

they will give various provocations. Various

attempts will be made

to spread communalism, they will run various

propaganda, and we

must remain alert about this.

We will show that the safest place for minorities in South Asia will be

this Bangladesh.
