Israeli Political Update and Government Formation

Citizens of Israel. This morning, the leaders of the parties for change

and reform held a good and important meeting. We are coordinated

and prepared for the coming days.

We have two goals: to form a national emergency government

based on the four principles I presented. The State of Israel:

Jewish, democratic, liberal. The values of the Declaration

of Independence, the duty of military, national,

and civilian service. Hamas is a terrorist organization whose military and governing

power must be destroyed or dismantled.

The parties' negotiating teams will begin work as soon as possible on

shared guiding principles and carrying out the steps

in the Knesset.

The election of a new Knesset speaker, important legislation

and repealing laws that threaten democracy.

We will act as quickly as possible to prevent Israel from being dragged

into another election and to prevent Netanyahu from continuing to entrench himself

in power.

Remember, as of Tuesday, Benjamin Netanyahu is

a caretaker prime minister with the support of only forty-six

members of the Knesset.

Likud and Netanyahu know that we are determined, so they

They continue to cast doubt on and sabotage the true results of the elections.

This is their last refuge. The coming days will be full of spin

and false or ugly briefings. Tomorrow

we will mark the anniversary of the Nazi assassination of the prime minister

and former IDF chief of staff, the late Yitzhak Rabin.

We will remember what we learned in the face of violence, incitement, and the erosion

of the foundations of democracy. We will stand firm, without fear.

Anyone who thinks they can intimidate change

does not properly appreciate our resolve and commitment

to the citizens of Israel and the State of Israel.

For them, we will act and succeed.
