Afghanistan's Stance on Refugee Rights

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan expresses

its serious concern over reports that

the United States has reportedly

returned some Afghan refugees to Pakistan who

have not yet been able to obtain legal residency

documents in that country.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan considers it its

responsibility to protect the rights of all its citizens

and stresses that Afghan citizens must be treated

in every part of the world in accordance with

applicable laws, accepted principles, and

respect for human dignity.

The Islamic Emirate calls on the United States to

act responsibly and judiciously in this matter, and to

make any decisions or take any actions

regarding the fate of Afghan citizens

in a transparent, bilateral, mutually understood,

and coordinated manner,

taking into account the rights and legitimate

requests of the individuals concerned.

The Afghan side is ready,

with an understanding of the existing realities and the two sides’

interests

Taking legitimate concerns into account,

in this section, engage in practical and

mutually acceptable dialogue. It also urges third

countries not to use the rights of another country's citizens in

their dealings as a basis for temporary, limited concessions or other

considerations, and to uphold human dignity,

rights, and accepted in their decisions and

actions, as well as accepted

ethical and humanitarian standards.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is committed

to constructive engagement and cooperation

in ensuring the dignified protection of its

citizens and addressing their concerns

and regards ensuring the rights and safety of its citizens as

its responsibility.
